Based on strong Yelp reviews, we decided to give this place a visit today and we are very glad that we did! The outside is not particularly impressive and one might easily pass it by, but inside is quite different. The place is clean, tidy and very comfortable. The staff is among some of the friendliest that I have ever encountered and our server in particular was very helpful with her suggestions and attentive service to our table. We had and order of the Chilaquiles Divorciados and an order of the Stuffed Poblano. Both dishes were EXCELLENT! This place is definitely one of our favorite breakfast spots anywhere and we will be back during our stay in Tucson.

Wonderful family owned Mexican breakfast cafe. We waited about 20 minutes for a table of four on a Sunday morning. Love the extra touches of the allegria, cafe de la Hoya mugs and the "Mexican eggs". We recommend it!

Got to go breakfast burritos for my parents and me. I've eaten here on a few different occasions, but sometimes avoid it due to how busy and crowded they normally are. Saturday morning I was able to get a parking spot right in front and needed to wait a few minutes for my order. They also sprinkle "allegria" or happiness into each order that includes to go orders which is fun. The burritos are excellent and the vibe is positive. A good way to describe this place is joy in great food.

The food was A M A Z I N G! First time here, felt like I was eating breakfast at my Grandma's. Everything tasted homemade and authentic, service was very polite, and it's a family owned business! The cutest little nuances - after they set down your food, they sprinkle "Allegria" (Joy) over your meal - SO CUTE! Plus they give little candies with your check - love love love this place - we will be back!

This place is so cute! There was a very long line to get seated, but it's well worth it. They give you the full experience with Mexican crackers, coffee and creamer from mini Mexican themed cups. The burros are very flavorful and filling and something simple like Juevos Ranchero tastes like a 5 star meal. They also end the meal in a very sweet and surprising way, but you'll have to stop in to experience it. They also allow vendors to come in and sell empanadas. We had a great experience. Will come back.

Adorable location! So clean. Different choices compared to most Tucson Mexican restaurants - empanadas! Marlin tacos! Breakfast stuffed poblano! I wish I would've ordered the stuffed poblano but I went with a trio of tacos, all were okay (raja, piccadillo, & nopales) but would not order again. Enjoyed the beans (so teeny) but wish there were more than 3 or 4 bites. Was a nice lunch but I would stick with their recommendations - aka the Poblano! FYI 2 persons, 2 sodas, 3 tacos, 1 pepper = $41 & change before tip. F

Buendia was listed as a must-visit for the Tucson area, so I was excited to go for breakfast. But we severely underestimated how crowded it would be even for early breakfast hours. We decided to get our food to go than to wait for a table, which seemed like it was going to take a good 45 minutes to an hour. I got the breakfast burrito with nopales, and my brother got one with chorizo. We waited quite a while to get our food. The restaurant is very small and quaint, lots of people chatting and the kitchen and staff hustling to serve food. It is quite cute, so it could be worth the waiting and rubbing elbows with your neighbor if you're not in a rush. When we finally got our food, the waitress (who was also manning the front cash register and being the hostess at the same time) sprinkles on some happiness to our order (though I had to go back to get utensils and napkins). I liked my burrito, as nopal is not easy to get where I live in New York. I thought the eggs were decent, and I loved the smoky flavor of the salsa. The beans made it a pretty hefty meal. My brother said the chorizo burrito wasn't as flavorful as he thought it would be. I'm not sure if this is a "must visit" place if you look purely at food. The food was just ok. But the ambience and the friendliness of the staff, as well as the cultural significance of Buendia bumped this place up a little bit.

We went here during the Sonoran restaurant week and we decided to try it since we never been here. They had a fixed menu for $15 that included a delicious cinnamon tea or cafe de la olla (so good!). I decided to try the Tacos dorado ( super crispy with a great filling of meat and potatoes) my friend ordered the carne con chile burrito( good but a little too smokey for my taste). Then at the end they brought us a cute little cup with arroz con leche (not my favorite to be honest but edible). Our waitress was wonderful and efficient.

Buendia is an absolute gem! The outside is unassuming but the interior is so charming. It's small and intimate and I love the ceiling. Service is friendly and I love the alegria they sprinkle on your food! So cute. Now the number one reason I love this place is the food. And the drinks! The cinnamon tea is my favorite but the cafe de olla is so good too. I recently visited with my family for Sonoran Restaurant Week and we enjoyed their $15 deal, which featured your choice of coffee de olla or cinnamon iced tea, a few options for entrees, and a rice pudding. I went with the huevos rancheros and it was delicious! The only thing not quite up to par was the breakfast potatoes. They weren't very good--not cooked to my liking--especially compared to everything else. I honestly think they should skip serving the potatoes because they aren't really necessary...and not very good. But everything else--yummmm! This is a must visit place when in Tucson, in my opinion, and I hope to be back very soon!

At $15/person this is the steal of the 2024 Sonoran Restaurant week (last year it was Blanco's but this year their offering went up $10 to $45/couple). I've always loved Buendia but they're far from me. We saw their SRW menu (see pic for all the details) and had to go! 3 Dorado tacos (beef/potatoes) OR 2 red chili burritos; Plus drink; Plus mini puréed beans; Plus mini rice pudding = phenomenal deal, especially at this quality (and outstanding service) levels! The dorado tacos are a bit heavy on potatoes (80-85%) and lite on the fried meat (15-20-%) but the fixings and flavors were otherwise excellent.
